How it works
Jed’s Marathon Auction is operated by James “Jed” Heald, a sole proprietor in New York, NY. Your phone number is used only to text you a one-time sign-in code. Auction text alerts are optional, off by default, and never required to browse, bid, or win.
Jed’s Marathon Auction raises money for Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK). Every dollar you bid is donated directly to MSK.
1. Browse the lots
Look through the donated items and experiences on the home page. No account is needed to browse.
2. Sign up with your phone
Enter your US mobile number and we text you a one-time login code. The code only signs you in; it does not subscribe you to anything.
3. Bid
The opening bid is at least $5, and each new bid is $5 above the current leader. You can bid publicly or as “Anonymous.”
4. Get optional alerts
If you want, check the separate, optional text alerts box to get outbid notices, a reminder 1 hour before closing, winner/payment info and updates on lots you bid on or contributed. Reply STOP anytime to opt out, HELP for help. See the opt-in form.
5. Win
When a lot closes, the highest bid wins. Winners are notified on the site and, if they opted in, by text.
6. Donate to MSK
Pay by donating your winning amount directly to MSK through Jed’s official fundraising page. This site never takes payments.
7. Get a receipt
MSK emails you a donation receipt. Submit its confirmation on your activity page so Jed can verify it and connect you with the person providing your lot.
